In the United States, the concept of democracy is often misunderstood and misused by politicians and media. The term "democracy" comes from the Greeks, meaning "people's power," but in America, it seems to be more about the rule of the powerful elite rather than the people. The majority of Americans, who are losing in the rigged economy, do not have a say in the government. Political leaders and judges disregard the will of the people, as seen in the 1994 California Proposition 13, which prohibited illegal immigrants from receiving government services, but was quashed by a judge. The rule of the majority is not practiced in the US, as White people, who are still a majority, face discrimination in business and government hiring. The term "democracy" is used to justify war, censorship, and prosecution of opponents. It is also used to describe a system where people have no power and are subjected to tyranny. The Founders would be considered "threats to democracy" in today's America, as would Thomas Jefferson, who advocated for freedom and liberty. The concept of democracy has been distorted and used to control and manipulate the population, rather than empowering them.
