Import and export Markdown in Google Docs

Google Docs now supports seamless interoperability with Markdown, enabling easy conversion between the two formats. Users can now paste Markdown content into Docs and export Docs content as Markdown, enhancing collaboration for technical writers. The "Copy as Markdown" and "Paste from Markdown" options can be enabled in preferences. Docs content exported as Markdown can be used in other Markdown-supporting tools. This feature is particularly useful for software documentation, allowing developers to collaborate in Docs and export the documentation in Markdown format. Admins have no control over this feature. The rollout will begin on July 16, 2024, and will gradually become available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google accounts.
