On August 19, 2024, from 11:10 to 11:30 US/Pacific time, Gmail users globally experienced server unavailability errors. The issue stemmed from resource contention on the Gmail backend. Customers were unable to access Gmail through IMAP, web, or mobile clients during this period. Google is currently conducting a full investigation and will release a detailed Incident Report soon. Affected products included Gmail.
