Ticketmaster to be investigated over ‘dynamic pricing’ for Oasis tickets after backlash

The U.K.'s competition watchdog, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), has launched an investigation into the ticket sales for Oasis' 2025 reunion concerts. The investigation will focus on "dynamic pricing," a strategy used by Ticketmaster, which caused many fans to pay more than double the face value of the tickets. Critics argue that the use of dynamic pricing was deceptive and inappropriate given the high demand for the tickets. The CMA will scrutinize whether Ticketmaster engaged in unfair commercial practices and breached consumer protection law. Fans who encountered issues with ticket purchases are encouraged to share their experiences with the CMA. The controversy has also led to a bid by Irish lawmakers to ban dynamic pricing in ticket sales. Oasis, a prominent British band of the 1990s, split in 2009 but is now reuniting for concerts in 2025. The band's management and event organizers will also be asked to provide evidence as part of the investigation.
