Discord gives parents more insight into their teens' activity through Family Center

Discord is introducing updates to its Family Center to enhance parental oversight while respecting teen privacy. Parents will now see a more detailed overview of their teen's Discord activity. This includes recent purchases, time spent in voice and video calls, and frequently contacted users and servers. Teens can now choose to notify a guardian when they report content or another user. While guardians will be informed of a report, they will not see its specific details, encouraging supportive conversations. New guardian-managed settings allow control over who can message teens and sensitive content filter enablement. Guardians will also have access to some data privacy controls. Discord emphasizes that these updates aim to balance independence with parental support, ensuring guardians cannot view message content. Teens can also access the same information as their guardians within the Family Center. Account linking is required for both guardians and teens to utilize the Family Center features. These changes come as Discord faces scrutiny regarding the safety of its younger users.
