WordPress Launches AI Site Builder Amid Company Restructuring

WordPress.com has launched an AI-powered site builder in early access, which creates complete websites with generated text, layouts, and images through a chatbot interface. The tool can produce a fully formed site in minutes, but currently has limitations, including the inability to handle ecommerce sites or complex integrations. To use the builder, users need a WordPress.com account and must sign up for a hosting plan starting at $18 monthly to publish their site. The launch comes at a time when WordPress.com's parent company, Automattic, is facing challenges, including recent layoffs and a lawsuit from a competing company.
