New to Google Meet: Continue your conversations in Google Chat

Starting November 10th, Google Meet in-meeting messages will be integrated with Google Chat. This means chat content shared during meetings will now be accessible in a persistent Google Chat conversation after the meeting concludes. This integration enhances the messaging experience by bringing Google Chat's capabilities, such as emoji responses, image sharing, and file sharing, directly into Google Meet. Meeting organizers can also share pre-meeting materials in Google Chat that will be available within Meet during the call. The change aims to improve post-meeting follow-up and boost team productivity by centralizing all messaging and shared files in Google Chat. In-meeting chat messages will adhere to existing Google Chat data retention and DLP policies. Meeting hosts can disable this continuous meeting chat feature for individual meetings before they start. External attendees will only have access to the chat during the meeting and will not see past or future conversation history. This feature is available for meetings scheduled in Google Calendar and applies to internal attendees within the host's domain. The rollout will occur in stages for different Google Workspace release tracks, starting on November 10th and December 3rd. It is available to all Google Workspace business and enterprise customers on eligible plans.
