Amazon has announced the release of DCV version 2024.0, which has been rebranded from NICE DCV to Amazon DCV. This new version introduces several key enhancements, including support for Ubuntu 24.04, the latest long-term support version of Ubuntu. The DCV client on Ubuntu 24.04 now natively supports Wayland, providing better performance through more efficient graphical rendering. The QUIC UDP protocol is now enabled by default, allowing end users to receive an optimized streaming experience. Amazon DCV is a high-performance remote display protocol designed to help customers securely access remote desktop or application sessions. The renaming of NICE DCV to Amazon DCV does not affect customer workloads, and there is no change to folder paths and internal tooling names. Additionally, Amazon has consolidated the WorkSpaces Streaming Protocol with Amazon DCV. The new version also adds the ability to blank the Linux host screen when a remote user is connected to the Linux server in a console session. This feature prevents users physically present near the server from seeing the screen and interacting with the remote session.
