Grassley released 197 subpoenas allegedly used to gather information on over 400 Republican targets, including politicians, media outlets, and donors. These subpoenas included confidential grand jury material and financial information from conservative organizations, according to Grassley. Senator Ted Cruz stated that his and other Senate Republicans' cellphones were also subpoenaed. The subpoenas also sought communications with media companies, members of the Legislative Branch, and White House advisors. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is requesting a deposition from Jack Smith regarding potential political motivations behind the operation. Smith has demanded a public hearing instead, to address what he calls "mischaracterizations" of his investigations. The House Judiciary Committee released documents detailing the scope of the investigation into 2020 election interference allegations. Investigators reportedly used FBI field offices across the country to conduct interviews and requested funds for further travel. The documents mention names of individuals under potential investigation, including White House officials and advisors.
