Google is expanding its AI-powered writing assistance in Gmail through features powered by Gemini under the "Help me write" shortcut. The latest addition is a "Polish" option that refines email drafts, typically making them more formal, and is available on both mobile and web platforms. Additionally, when composing emails of at least 12 words on iOS and Android, users can access options like Polish, Formalize, Elaborate, Shorten, and Write a new draft by swiping on the "Refine my draft" prompt. These features are exclusive to subscribers of Google One's AI Premium plan or organizations with specific Gemini add-ons for education and business. However, there is skepticism about the practicality and efficiency of these tools, with some questioning whether they genuinely save time or improve the quality of email communication.
