Google has upgraded its Gemini AI platform to be faster and more accurate with the Gemini 1.5 Flash large language model (LLM). This updated version of Gemini aims to attract a broader set of users and is now available to anyone using Gemini, not just those subscribed to Gemini Advanced. The Gemini 1.5 Flash LLM is faster than its predecessors and better at understanding images. It also has a larger context window, allowing for longer and more complex conversations. Google has added the ability to upload files to Gemini from Google Drive or your device, and Gemini will soon be able to analyze data files for you. To combat AI hallucinations, Gemini will now display links to relevant content online, citing its sources when asked for facts. Google is expanding Gemini's geographic and application availability, making it available directly in Google Messages on some Android devices across much of Europe and introducing new language options. A version of Gemini designed for teenagers is also expanding globally in 40 languages, with additional security policies and safeguards.
