RFK Jr. Calls For Global Ban On Mercury In Vaccines

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called for the global removal of mercury from vaccines, citing the U.S. precedent. The Minamata Convention on Mercury initially made an exception for vaccines containing thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative. Kennedy questioned the double standard of allowing mercury in vaccines while restricting it in other products. He stated that thimerosal lacks proper safety testing and is identified as a neurotoxin in studies. The U.S. recently eliminated thimerosal from all vaccines, with manufacturers confirming they can produce mercury-free alternatives. The American Academy of Pediatrics maintains that thimerosal is safe due to it being ethyl mercury. Some studies suggest thimerosal can damage brain bioenergetic pathways and accumulate in kidneys. However, the CDC asserts that research shows no link between thimerosal in vaccines and neurodevelopmental disorders like autism, with only minor side effects reported.
