Beverly Bridge in Beverly, Washington

The Beverly Bridge, a 3,000-foot former railroad bridge in Washington state, now serves as a pedestrian and cyclist pathway across the Columbia River. Originally built in 1909, it was part of the Milwaukee Road railroad and later abandoned. The bridge and its right-of-way were acquired by the state, added to the National Register of Historic Places, but remained derelict until the 2010s. Its reconstruction was deemed crucial to connecting the east and west sections of the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail. Funding was secured, and the bridge reopened in 2022 after extensive refurbishment. The renovation included a new concrete deck, guardrails, and several viewpoints with benches. The bridge's key attraction is its peaceful, non-motorized setting, offering stunning views of the river and surrounding landscape. Its location downstream of Wanapum Dam preserves a segment of the undammed river. The refurbished Beverly Bridge now stands as a significant feature of the state park.
