Skipping the New MacBook Pro? Here Are Two Bigger Changes Rumored

The new MacBook Pro lineup features faster M4 chip options, Thunderbolt 5 support, and a nano-texture display option, but previous models with Apple silicon chips still offer the latest design and fast performance, making it unnecessary to upgrade this year. However, there are two significant changes rumored to come to the laptop in the future. One of these changes is the switch to OLED display technology, which is expected to happen as early as 2026. OLED displays would offer increased brightness, higher contrast ratio, improved power efficiency, and a thinner design. Meanwhile, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and display industry analyst Ross Young predict that the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro will continue to have mini-LED displays in 2025. Another rumored change is a thinner design, with Apple aiming to create devices that are the thinnest and lightest in their categories. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple is working to make the MacBook Pro thinner over the next couple of years. A more vivid OLED display and a much thinner design would be compelling upgrades that might drive existing Apple silicon MacBook Pro users to upgrade. These future changes might be more significant than the current updates, making it worth waiting for the next generation of MacBook Pros. Overall, the rumored OLED display and thinner design could be game-changers for the MacBook Pro lineup.
