Apple promises ChatGPT will arrive on iOS 18 'by the end of the year'

At WWDC 2024, Apple introduced new intelligence features for iOS 18 and other software, including ChatGPT integration, expected by the end of 2025. Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed on a recent earnings call that ChatGPT would be built into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia by the end of the year, with iOS 18 likely launching in September. When available, Siri can refer questions to ChatGPT, and it will assist in composing text messages and emails. Users will also be able to generate images using the GPT-4o model, with free access to ChatGPT and additional features for ChatGPT Plus members. Apple's original timetable for these features is still on track despite speculation of potential delays. Apple may add other AI bots like Google Gemini to Siri in the future, aiming to enhance Siri's capabilities. Some features are already in the developer beta of iOS 18.1, but it's not ready for everyday use.
