Fact-checking Trump on Day 4 of 2024 Republican National Convention

Donald Trump delivered a 92-minute speech at the Republican National Convention, accepting the presidential nomination. His speech was filled with falsehoods and misleading claims. Trump claimed he would eliminate the national debt in eight years, but it increased by $7.9 trillion during his term. He also claimed that Iran was close to having a nuclear weapon, which is not true. Trump said he had the most secure border in U.S. history, but apprehensions at the southwest border spiked during his term. He also claimed he had the greatest economy in the history of the world, which is not accurate. Trump said he would end the inflation crisis, but his proposals for doing so are unrealistic. He claimed Democrats used COVID-19 to cheat in the election, but no fraud was found in over 60 lawsuits. Trump also claimed he would end international crises, including the war in Ukraine and the attack on Israel, but there is no evidence that these crises would not have happened under his presidency.
