Google’s Gemini-powered photo search arrives in early access

Google's AI-powered Photos upgrades are now available for select users in the US, including the Gemini-powered chatbot Ask Photos. This feature allows users to search for photos using more descriptive queries, making it easier to find specific images in their cloud-based photo libraries. The upgraded search function is now rolling out for all English-speaking users on Android and iOS. Ask Photos takes this further by adding a new tab at the bottom of the Photos app, enabling users to ask about anything in their library using natural language. Examples of queries include "Show me the best photo from each national park I've visited" and "What did we eat at the hotel in Stanley?" Ask Photos can also respond to follow-up prompts if it misses the mark initially. Google ensures that your Photos data will never be used for advertising, and human reviewers will not know who typed the input. Users in the US can sign up for the waitlist to try to get early access to Ask Photos starting today.
