Apple is reportedly manufacturing all four iPhone 17 models in India

Apple is significantly increasing iPhone production in India in preparation for the upcoming iPhone 17 launch. For the first time, all four iPhone 17 models will be manufactured in India. Consequently, all US-bound shipments for the entire iPhone 17 lineup will originate from India at launch. This strategic move is part of Apple's broader effort to diversify its manufacturing base and reduce its dependence on China. Tata Group is expected to handle a substantial portion of India's iPhone output, with Foxconn also playing a key role. The iPhone 17 lineup, anticipated in September, may include a new "Air" model alongside the standard Pro and Pro Max versions. This production shift also occurs against a backdrop of US trade policies, including past tariff threats. Apple has previously committed to significant US investment, but iPhones imported from India have, for now, avoided US tariffs. The company is maximizing shipments from India while import regulations are still being determined by the US Commerce Department.
