Apple will end support for the old Apple Home architecture on February 10, 2026, giving users more time to update. Transitioning to the new HomeKit architecture is necessary to avoid disruptions to accessories and automations. The HomeKit architecture was revamped in March 2023 alongside iOS 16.4. Apple has supported both architectures for the past two years, addressing initial stability issues. After the deadline, the Home app will cease functioning on devices with older operating systems. Minimum compatible versions include iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, macOS 13.1, tvOS 16.2, and watchOS 9.2. Older devices will lose access to the Home app entirely. The updated architecture introduces features like guest access, robot vacuum support, and Activity History. Apple states that this update improves performance and reliability, especially for homes with numerous accessories.
