Robby Starbuck is suing Google for $15 million, alleging its AI tools falsely accused him of serious crimes. The lawsuit claims Google's AI implicated Starbuck in sexual assault, murder, drug charges, and ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Starbuck argues these false claims reached millions and threatened his safety, particularly given the heated political climate. He sent cease-and-desist letters to Google, but the defamatory outputs allegedly persisted. The lawsuit accuses Google of negligence and malice, asserting its AI was deliberately biased against conservatives. Starbuck's legal team contends Google failed to address known flaws in its AI models. Google dismisses the claims, attributing issues to "hallucinations" in early AI models, which they state have been resolved. They suggest user prompting may have contributed to the errors and state they cannot replicate the described outputs. Starbuck previously settled a similar defamation suit against Meta, now advising the company on AI bias. Meta and Starbuck will collaborate to address issues of ideological and political bias within AI models.
