Instagram Stories is getting new AI-powered editing tools

Meta is integrating generative AI-powered editing tools directly into Instagram Stories for photos and videos. Users can now employ text prompts to remove or alter objects within their images or to completely restyle the entire picture. These new AI features are accessible through a "restyle" menu located at the top of the Stories composer. Users can choose to add, remove, or change specific elements of their photos using these tools. The functionality mirrors existing AI image editors, allowing for edits like object removal or outfit modifications. More significant edits are also possible, such as changing the background to a desired scene. Beyond specific edits, the prompt bar allows for broader image iteration without predefined constraints. While AI processing takes a few seconds, the experience is significantly faster than previous image generators. Additionally, preset effects are available to change an image's style, like anime or watercolor, without requiring a prompt. Meta is also testing AI restyle effects for text in Stories, offering customization beyond standard font options. These enhancements make Meta AI's editing capabilities much more accessible to Instagram users. A new "add yours" sticker encourages sharing AI-generated creations and prompts.
