iOS 26.2 Expands Live Translation on AirPods to EU

Apple is expanding Live Translation on AirPods to the EU region with the upcoming iOS 26.2 update. This feature facilitates real-time language translation directly through your AirPods. It enables users to understand spoken conversations in different languages, translating them into their preferred language. Ideally, both parties utilize AirPods for the best experience, but it also supports displaying transcriptions on the iPhone. Live Translation is compatible with AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, and higher-end AirPods 4 models with Active Noise Cancellation. Initially launched in the U.S. and other regions, EU availability was delayed for compliance with the EU's Digital Markets Act. The iOS 26.2 beta, offering this feature, has been released to developers, with a public beta set to follow and a full release in December. Users will need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, Apple Intelligence enabled, and the Translate app installed. Currently, it supports various languages, including English, French, German, and Spanish. iOS 26 also incorporates a built-in Live Translation feature within the Messages, Phone, and FaceTime apps, functioning without AirPods.
