Marjun's Lifting Stone, or Marjunar Hav, is located in Mikladalur on the Faroe Island of Kalsoy. Local legend says a 16th-century unmarried pregnant woman named Marjun lifted this heavy stone to leave a legacy before facing severe punishment. Pregnancies outside marriage were considered a grave crime, sometimes punishable by death. She reportedly declared her intention to make the stone her only legacy while walking with other women. The woman's ultimate fate is unknown, whether she was executed or spared. The stone was later moved to the village, near a sculpture commemorating the woman. The stone weighs around 287.5 kilograms, demonstrating incredible strength. It sits behind a fence near the public toilets of Mikladalur village. The story of Marjun and her lifting stone remains a poignant local memory.
