Nike is introducing innovative footwear concepts that go beyond traditional design. Project Amplify, developed with Dephy, augments physical capabilities by acting as "a second set of calf muscles." This robotic shoe system, featuring a carbon fiber plate, battery, and motor, aims to make walking and running easier and faster. It functions similarly to an e-bike, assisting the wearer without entirely replacing their natural movement. Extensive testing with over 400 athletes has gathered significant data on its performance. This integration of robotics into athletic wear mirrors other recent developments in consumer technology. Nike is also launching the Nike Mind line, starting with the Mind 001 mules and Mind 002 sneakers. These shoes utilize neuroscience research and special foam nodes to enhance sensory awareness. The intention is to improve concentration and reduce distractions by simulating ground texture. The Nike Mind models are scheduled for a January 2026 release. Project Amplify is anticipated for a wider consumer launch in the coming years.
