OLED MacBook Air Expected to Follow Touch Screen OLED MacBook Pro

Apple plans to update the MacBook Air with an OLED display in 2028. This update is part of a broader move to OLED technology across Apple's iPad and MacBook lineup. The transition will likely begin with the iPad mini, followed by the MacBook Pro, iPad Air, and lastly, the MacBook Air. The MacBook Pro's OLED update is expected as early as late 2026 and may include touch screen functionality. Apple already uses OLED displays in the iPad Pro. The standard, low-cost iPad is not planned to receive an OLED display. The MacBook Air is expected to get M5 chips and retain its LCD display early next year. If Apple keeps an annual release schedule, the OLED MacBook Air could feature M7 chips. Early development has already begun on the OLED version of the MacBook Air. The switch to OLED will bring brighter screens, deeper blacks, higher contrast, and improved battery life.
