Scoop: Graham Platner's campaign manager and longtime friend quits

Graham Platner's campaign manager, Kevin Brown, is stepping down after only days on the job. This marks the latest in a series of staff changes for the Maine Senate candidate. Brown cited a new family development as the reason for his departure, stating he couldn't dedicate 100% to the campaign. Platner's campaign has faced turmoil due to controversial past social media posts and a tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol. His former political director, Genevieve McDonald, also left the campaign over his past comments. Another aide, Daniel Moraff, reportedly acted as a de facto campaign manager before Brown's arrival. Platner addressed his past Reddit comments about various groups, attributing them to his struggles with PTSD and depression, and offered an apology. He also explained his tattoo of a skull and crossbones was acquired in his twenties without knowledge of its Nazi association, and he has since covered it. Despite these controversies, Platner has received an endorsement from Senator Bernie Sanders. Early polls suggest Platner is competitive in the Democratic Senate primary race in Maine.
