Review: BenQ PD2730S 5K Designer Monitor – A Studio Display Alternative That Doesn't Break the Bank

The BenQ PD2730S is a 27-inch 5K monitor priced at $1200, competing with Apple's Studio Display and the ASUS ProArt 5K Display. It features a 5120 x 2880 resolution IPS panel with a Nano Matte coating, offering excellent color accuracy (98% P3, 100% sRGB). The monitor boasts Thunderbolt 4 connectivity with 90W power delivery, along with HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4. A comprehensive array of USB ports and a convenient HotKey Puck G3 controller enhance usability. The stand provides extensive adjustability, including height, tilt, and swivel. Image quality is superb, with sharp text and vivid colors, though brightness maxes out at 400 nits, less than the Studio Display. BenQ's Display Pilot 2 software offers easy control over monitor settings and color matching. Despite lacking a webcam and having subpar speakers, the PD2730S offers superior ergonomics and connectivity compared to the Apple alternative. The monitor provides excellent value for creative professionals needing a high-resolution display. It's available from BenQ's website and authorized retailers.
