Whistle pet trackers are shutting down next month

Whistle, a Mars subsidiary that produces pet trackers, has been acquired by Tractive. As a result, Whistle trackers will cease to function, but Tractive is offering free replacements for a limited time. The official shutdown date for Whistle's pet trackers is August 31, 2025. Users can request a replacement tracker until September 30, 2025, by providing their tracker's serial number and choosing a new Tractive tracker. Tractive will also credit pre-paid Whistle subscriptions to new Tractive accounts and offer two months of free subscription to users without an active subscription. Whistle's devices used GPS, Wi-Fi, and AT&T's network to track pets, while Tractive offers similar tracking features plus wearable-style health monitoring. Tractive's subscription plans, starting at $108 per year, provide features like heart rate and respiratory rate tracking. A Premium plan is available for $120 per year, offering worldwide coverage and GPS data export. Although the transition may be inconvenient, the acquisition seems to be a positive outcome for users. Overall, Tractive is providing a smooth transition for Whistle users, offering them a chance to upgrade to its more advanced tracking features.
