Polish Socialist Calls For Ban On Right Wing Party 'Before It Grows To Size We Cannot Handle'

Andrzej Rozenek, a former Polish MP and deputy editor-in-chief of "Nie," discussed Grzegorz Braun's Confederation of the Polish Crown party. Rozenek, whose publication is known for its anti-right and anti-Catholic stance, contrasted it with Braun's outspoken Catholic monarchism and his history of anti-Semitic and homophobic remarks. Rozenek invoked Article 13 of the Polish Constitution, which prohibits parties promoting racial or national hatred and totalitarian methods. He stated that this article mandates the banning of parties like Braun's. Rozenek believes the new Minister of Justice, Waldemar Żurek, should initiate legal proceedings to ban the Confederation of the Polish Crown. He views this as a critical preventative measure against the spread of harmful ideologies. Rozenek drew a parallel to 1930s Germany, suggesting that early action against extremist groups could have averted World War II and its devastating consequences. He emphasized the responsibility to counteract and prevent the growth of nationalism, fascism, and neo-fascism. Rozenek sees no alternative to taking such decisive action.
