ChatGPT's Study Mode will guide students to an answer stey by step

OpenAI has launched a new Study Mode for ChatGPT to help students grasp complex subjects. This mode adopts a Socratic method, guiding users to answers through questioning rather than providing direct solutions. The chatbot's responses are calibrated based on the student's objectives and understanding. Conversations are structured with a scaffold approach, gradually releasing information to prevent cognitive overload. Study Mode was developed in partnership with educators and experts in pedagogy. It operates on custom system instructions rather than a new AI model, allowing for rapid iteration based on user feedback. OpenAI intends to integrate successful Study Mode behaviors into its main models later. The feature is accessible to all logged-in users, including free and paid tiers, with Edu subscribers gaining access soon. While AI cheating is a concern, OpenAI aims to make Study Mode engaging and personalized. Future plans include goal setting and progress tracking for students.
