New data from the German government shows that 40% of suspects identified in school violence in 2024 were not German citizens, with Syrians making up the largest group. There were 4,254 foreign suspects and 7,309 suspects with German citizenship out of a total of 11,558 suspects. Syrians accounted for 1,236 suspects, representing one in ten violent incidents. Afghans were the second-largest group, making up 3.6% of all suspects. The data also revealed that many German suspects have a foreign background, but are counted solely as Germans due to their citizenship. In 2024, there were 35,570 violent crimes in Germany's school system, amounting to 97 violent crimes per day, with 740 of those being knife attacks. When including all crimes, the total number reaches 94,318, with an additional 24,292 crimes occurring at school events. The number of crimes among young people in general grew by 3.8% from 2023 to 2024, and by 11.3% for children under 14 years old. Alternative for Germany (AfD) MP Martin Hess attributes the growing danger in schools to mass immigration, calling for effective border controls, deportation of criminal foreigners, and an end to multicultural experiments. Hess believes the state must prioritize the safety of its citizens over ideological projects.
