Gemini AI can now summarize what’s in your Google Drive folders

Gemini, Google's AI assistant, is becoming more useful in Google Drive with its latest integration. The AI can now generate summaries of everything inside a folder, in addition to summarizing documents and answering project-related questions. To use this feature, users can select the "Summarize this folder" button at the top of the page after opening a folder. Gemini will then provide a breakdown of the folder's contents, allowing users to find specific files or ask questions about the folder. Users can also drag and drop a folder into the Gemini sidebar or right-click on a folder and choose "Ask Gemini." Currently, Gemini can provide information about text documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, and presentations. However, testing has shown that Gemini can also identify images in a folder. This feature is rolling out to Google One AI Premium subscribers, as well as Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, and Education Premium users. The integration was first introduced in June, bringing Gemini to the sidebar in Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The new folder summary feature is now available to eligible users.
