Nintendo Switch Modder Faces Tech Giant in Court Without Lawyer

A Nintendo Switch modder, Ryan Daly, is facing a lawsuit from Nintendo over allegations that his business, Modded Hardware, sells hardware and firmware for creating and playing pirated games. Nintendo claims Daly ignored warnings to cease operations in March and May 2024, prompting the lawsuit filed in July. Daly has denied all allegations and ownership of the business, citing defenses such as fair use, invalid copyrights, and unjust enrichment. The Modded Hardware website is now password-protected, and Daly is representing himself in the case without legal representation.
