Apple Accuses Former Employee of Stealing Vision Pro Secrets

Apple has filed a lawsuit against former engineer Di Liu, accusing him of stealing confidential design and development information related to the Apple Vision Pro headset and taking it to Snap. Liu worked at Apple for seven years and was a senior product design engineer before resigning to allegedly focus on his health and family. However, Apple claims Liu had already accepted a job offer from Snap, a competitor in the wearable augmented reality space. Before leaving Apple, Liu allegedly downloaded thousands of internal files to his personal cloud storage account, including files on product design, testing, and unreleased features of the Vision Pro. Apple discovered Liu's actions through forensic analysis of his company-issued laptop, which showed he manually selected and uploaded specific folders to his personal cloud account. Liu is also accused of deleting files to conceal the transfer. Apple is seeking a court order to return the stolen materials and allow inspection of Liu's devices and accounts to verify no confidential information remains. The company is also pursuing financial damages for breach of contract and misappropriation of trade secrets. Snap, Liu's new employer, has denied any connection between the lawsuit and Liu's current responsibilities. The lawsuit was filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court on June 24, 2025. Apple is accusing Liu of misappropriating trade secrets during his final days of employment at the company.
