Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference keynote introduced iOS 26, which includes a major visual overhaul inspired by visionOS. The new operating system will be named after the year, with iOS 26 being the version that arrives in fall 2025. The redesign features responsive, translucent user interfaces, new app icons and buttons, and a focus on light and transparency. CarPlay is getting a visual redesign, featuring a more compact view for incoming calls and widgets and Live Activities reflected on the infotainment system. Apple is giving several core apps notable updates, including the Phone app, FaceTime, Safari, Camera, Messages, and Wallet. A new core app, Games, will allow users to view and download titles from Apple Arcade and access their library and multiplayer options. AI-powered features are also coming to iOS 26, including live translation for text and audio in phone calls, FaceTime and Messages, and integration with Apple Music. Other updates include changes to parental controls, accessibility features, and the ability to install iOS 26 on iPhone 11 or later devices. Developers can try out the iOS 26 features starting today, and public betas will be available in July, with the final release coming this fall.
