Iran Furious At 'Racist' US Travel Ban Targeting Muslim Nations

Iran has strongly condemned the new US travel ban, calling it "racist" and a reflection of Washington's deep hostility towards Iranians and Muslims. The ban restricts travel from 19 countries, primarily in Africa and the Middle East, and will take effect on Monday. Iranian official Alireza Hashemi-Raja criticized the move, saying it breaches international legal norms and denies millions the basic right to travel based on nationality or faith. The ban features Mideast and North African countries like Iran, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, and Sudan, but also includes Myanmar, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, and others. President Trump explained that the ban is necessary to ensure that admitted aliens do not bear hostile attitudes towards the US citizens, culture, government, institutions, or founding principles. The ban also includes partial restrictions and new visa requirements for several countries, including Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela. Interestingly, Syria was not included in the ban, despite being a hub for foreign jihadists. The ban has sparked outrage, with critics arguing that it is a form of discrimination based on nationality and faith. The move comes at a sensitive time, as the US and Iran are currently engaged in highly sensitive nuclear talks.
