Google Sheets now allows Gemini to generate fully editable charts, unlike the previous static image charts. Users can create charts by typing a prompt in Gemini, such as requesting a specific chart type with data axes. The generated chart appears in a side panel and, upon insertion, is placed on a new tab for editing. This enables users to modify titles, colors, and other chart aspects. The chart is linked to the data in the new tab, so data changes should be made there. Users can employ this to analyze campaign performance, manage cash flow, or investigate inventory trends. For optimal results, data should be consistently formatted, with clear headers and no missing values. Admins must enable smart features for users to access Gemini, and end-users can find Gemini in the side panel. The feature is rolling out rapidly starting June 9, 2025, across various Google Workspace editions.
