Will the iPad 11 Support Apple Intelligence? New Leak Adds Uncertainty

A recent leak has cast doubt on a previous rumor that the iPad 11 will support Apple Intelligence. The leak suggests that the iPad 11 will have a chip with the identifier T8120, which corresponds to the A16 chip, not the A17 Pro chip needed for Apple Intelligence. The A16 chip is currently used in the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus. Mark Gurman previously reported that the iPad 11 would have the A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM, which are the minimum specs for Apple Intelligence. The latest iPad mini also has the A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM. If the leak is correct, the iPad 11 would have 6GB of RAM and may not support Apple Intelligence. It's unclear who is correct, as both Gurman and the anonymous source have good track records with Apple rumors. It's possible that Apple could offer multiple iPad 11 configurations and price points, which could explain the discrepancy. Apple is expected to announce the iPad 11 by March or April, with no major changes beyond improved specs. An updated Magic Keyboard accessory is also reportedly in the works for the iPad 11.
