Here's How Many iPhones Are Running iOS 18

Apple has shared new statistics showing that iOS 18 adoption has surpassed iOS 17 adoption during the same timeframe last year. Currently, 88% of iPhones introduced in the last four years have iOS 18 installed, and 82% of all active iPhones are running the update. This is an increase from January, when 76% of newer iPhones and 68% of all iPhones had iOS 18. In comparison, last year, 86% of newer iPhones and 77% of all iPhones had iOS 17 installed. iPadOS 18 adoption is also higher, with 81% of newer iPads and 71% of all iPads running the update. The faster adoption rate may be due to new features in iOS 18, such as Writing Tools and Genmoji. Apple views software updates as essential to the iPhone experience, allowing them to deliver new functionality to older devices and address security vulnerabilities. The company believes that providing users with new features over multiple years is unique to the iPhone due to its hardware and software integration. This approach enables customers to hold onto their devices for years while still getting new experiences. Overall, Apple's software updates aim to provide value to customers over a long period of time.
