A year later, the Sonos Ace is finally fulfilling its potential

Sonos's 2024 launch of Ace headphones was marred by a delayed key feature, TrueCinema, and a flawed app update. TrueCinema, finally released a year later, significantly enhances spatial audio for TV viewing, improving sound depth and detail. The update also added two-person TV Audio Swap, allowing two pairs of Ace headphones to simultaneously receive soundbar audio. Adaptive noise cancellation was improved, addressing sound leaks caused by varying earcup fits. Call quality was enhanced with higher-resolution audio and a Sidetone feature. Overall, the updates substantially improve the Ace headphones, rectifying initial shortcomings. The improvements make the Ace a more competitive product, especially considering its reduced price. The year-long delay for TrueCinema, however, remains a significant misstep. Sonos's efforts to improve the Ace demonstrate a commitment to product enhancement after a challenging 2024. This demonstrates a move towards regaining consumer trust following setbacks.
