MacBook Pro With OLED Display Expected Next Year — Without a Notch?

Omdia analyst Linda Lin has reiterated that the first MacBook models with OLED displays will launch in 2026. It is expected that OLED displays will debut in higher-end MacBook Pro models before lower-end MacBook Air models. The switch from mini-LED to OLED display technology will bring benefits such as increased brightness, higher contrast ratio, and improved power efficiency. The MacBook Pro is expected to receive its first major redesign since 2021 next year, featuring an OLED display and a thinner design. Apple will also introduce the M6, M6 Pro, and M6 Max chips by then. Omdia previously claimed that next year's MacBook Pro models will have a hole-punch camera at the top of the screen, but it's unclear if this rumor is accurate. If you're considering purchasing a new MacBook Pro, it might be best to wait until next year when the more significant changes arrive. Apple will likely update the MacBook Pro line with the M5 series of chips later this year, but not much is expected beyond that spec bump. The more significant changes, including the OLED display, are expected to arrive by October 2026. Overall, it's recommended to hold off on purchasing a new MacBook Pro until next year if you can wait.
