This week's indie game news and releases roundup is a shorter edition, but still features some interesting games worth checking out. The Steam Summer Sale is still ongoing, offering quality games for less than the cost of a cup of coffee. 8BitDo, an independent gaming company, has been featured in a story about medical students using their controllers to study with a flashcard program called Anki. Atuel, a short and free experimental game, has been released on Steam and Google Play, exploring beautiful landscapes inspired by the Atuel River Valley in Argentina. The game is a surrealist documentary about climate change and should take around half an hour to finish. The team behind Atuel, Matajuegos, has disbanded, but the developers are working on other projects. A video game sequel to the film Turbo Kid is coming to Nintendo Switch on August 5, and it's recommended to watch the movie before playing the game. The game is a Metroidvania with gruesome pixel art and a great soundtrack. An upcoming FMV game, Dead Take, has caught attention, starring two highly regarded game actors and featuring escape room-style puzzles. The game follows an actor searching for a missing friend after a Hollywood party, and players must solve puzzles and piece together videos to uncover what happened.
