A new Resident Evil game has been announced, but it is a mobile spin-off called Resident Evil Survival Unit for iOS and Android. The game is a strategy game that fits into the broader Resident Evil universe, although the details are not yet clear. The game is being co-developed by Aniplex Inc and Joycity, a Korean developer that specializes in strategy games. Joycity is currently working on another strategy game called Disney Realm Breakers and has previously developed Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War. The studio has experience in developing free-to-play real-time strategy games with a high average rating. Resident Evil Survival Unit promises to expand the global fanbase of Resident Evil to mobile with a new approach that is different from the existing series. The game is being developed in close collaboration to ensure authenticity and quality. A full reveal of the game is scheduled for July 10 at 6pm ET, where more information will be available. This announcement comes less than a month after the surprise announcement of Resident Evil Requiem, which is the official name for Resident Evil 9 and features a new character called Grace Ashcroft. The new mainline game will offer both first-person and third-person gameplay perspectives from launch, a first for the series.
