iPhone 16e Has an Action Button: Here's Everything It Can Do

The iPhone 16e features an Action button, replacing the traditional Ring/Silent switch. This button offers customizable actions beyond simple mute toggling. Users can assign it to various functions like camera activation, flashlight control, and accessing Focus modes. Accessibility features, such as Magnifier and VoiceOver, are also accessible through the button. Shortcuts allow for personalized app launches or automated tasks. A press-and-hold activates a secondary function, enhancing its versatility. The Action button can also control numerous Control Center options, including Dark Mode and Airplane Mode. Notably, the iPhone 16e uniquely allows assignment of Visual Intelligence to the Action button. Visual Intelligence utilizes the camera for object identification, text summarization, and translation. This feature, previously exclusive to higher-end models, is now accessible via the Action button on the iPhone 16e and is coming to the iPhone 15 Pro.
