Hinge is teaming up with Esther Perel to rethink dating prompts

Renowned psychotherapist and relationship expert Esther Perel is collaborating with Hinge to spark deeper connections on the dating app. Perel contributed to the creation of Hinge's new "My World" prompts, a collection of 10 questions designed to help users share more about themselves and encourage vibrant conversations. The prompts touch on various aspects of users' lives, including friendships, family, and pets, and are meant to blend in seamlessly with Hinge's existing prompts. Hinge's president, Jackie Jantos, says the collaboration was a natural fit, given Perel's expertise and Hinge's data on how people engage in relationships. The new prompts are expected to remain on the app indefinitely, replacing 10 underperforming prompts. Hinge's focus on written conversation is intentional, as it helps to build a community of high-intention daters. The app's data shows that likes on prompt responses are 47% more likely to lead to a date than likes on photos. Hinge has grown with Gen Z, which now makes up 56% of its base, and the company is continually iterating to meet the needs of this generation, who are looking for intentioned relationships and need support in product experiences that guide them towards that.
