Hollowed Out

The current era is characterized by a superficial appearance of normalcy and stability, but beneath the surface, everything has been hollowed out and is actually unstable. Many aspects of life, including entertainment, innovation, and romance, have become empty and lacking in substance. The economy has also been hollowed out, with growth often being artificial or based on waste and fraud. The education system has been particularly affected, with students being forced into debt-serfdom to pay for tuition and fees. The housing and mortgage sectors have also been hollowed out, with the Federal Reserve propping up the system with trillions of dollars in purchases of mortgage-backed securities. The status quo has pushed everything to extremes of instability to maintain a superficial appearance of normalcy. Insiders have become enriched by the system, while ordinary people are left to suffer the consequences. Nobody is held accountable for the hollowing out of institutions and sectors, and self-serving greed is disconnected from consequences. The author argues that it's time to allow dysfunctional systems to collapse and be replaced by more effective and cheaper alternatives. The experience of the real world has also been hollowed out, and the author explores this theme in their new book, "Ultra-Processed Life".
