A Gemini-boosted Google Assistant is now available on some Nest speakers

Google is gradually releasing a Gemini-powered Google Assistant for select Nest smart speakers. This update initially focuses on improving responses to general knowledge questions. The standard Assistant continues managing smart home and music controls. A chime precedes Gemini's AI-powered answers. Gemini provides more comprehensive and in-depth responses, similar to its mobile counterpart. Users can ask follow-up questions and interrupt Gemini's responses. However, a "Hey Google" command is needed for each interaction. Currently, only Nest Audio and Nest Mini (2nd gen) speakers support this feature. Access is limited to Google Home's Public Preview program participants. The rollout is ongoing and not yet available to all users.
