Amazon Joins the Motion Picture Association, Hollywood's Top Lobbying Group

Amazon has joined the Motion Picture Association (MPA) as its seventh member, alongside major studios like Paramount, Sony, Universal, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Netflix. Amazon's prior involvement with the MPA's anti-piracy coalition, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment, and its 2022 acquisition of MGM, a former MPA member, highlights its growing influence in the entertainment industry. The inclusion of both Amazon and Netflix in the MPA reflects the significant impact of streaming services on the industry. The MPA's chairman and CEO, Charles Rivkin, stated that Amazon's membership will strengthen the organization's policymaking and content protection efforts, representing the interests of innovative and creative companies. The MPA advocates for the entertainment industry's economic and cultural contributions, including job creation and community support. With Amazon and MGM joining its ranks, the MPA aims to amplify its voice for storytellers worldwide.
