Epic Games has submitted Fortnite to the US App Store, which could mark the game's return to the US since 2020. The game will allow in-app currency purchases from the web, not through the App Store, which led to its initial removal. Apple has been ordered to allow developers to direct customers to external purchase options, and Epic Games is using its Swedish developer account to submit Fortnite. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said the company has conversed with Apple about the plan, but it's unclear if Apple will approve the submission. Apple previously shut down Epic's EU developer account, but reinstated it after Epic pledged to follow the rules. The Apple vs Epic Games legal battle did not order Apple to allow Fortnite's return, but Apple may not want to further anger the judge overseeing the case. Apple is currently required to allow developers to add links to external purchase options and cannot collect a commission on these purchases. Apple has filed an emergency motion to pause the ruling, asking to charge fees for external purchases and control how they are displayed. Until then, the App Store link changes will stand.
