Self-consistent hardness measurements spanning eleven decades of strain rate on a single material surface

This study introduces an indentation-based method to measure hardness across eleven decades of strain rate data, revealing a transition from thermally activated flow to phonon drag plasticity, using fully self-consistent data from a single material surface.
